Our mission at Potential (Kent) cic is simple: to provide high-quality services in a timely manner.
We offer a programme tailored to specific needs to ensure excellence. We hope you’ll find what you’re looking for. For more information or general inquiries, feel free to get in touch today. Our mission is offer a specialist treatment programme, within the locality of Thanet, for people experiencing social skills, life skills and emotional difficulties, including mental health needs.
The ability to communicate effectively with people can be impacted by a number of conditions or circumstances for instance Anxiety Disorders, Social Phobia, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, traumatic childhood or different social styles and upbringing.
We offer individual and group work to provide opportunities to practice doing and being with others and learning socially acceptable behaviors. The programme includes conversation skills, overcoming social anxiety and appropriate use of body language, thus increasing independence and self-confidence in a wide range of social situations.
Physical or mental illness, disability or life stressors can decrease an individual’s motivation to perform day to day activities.
We offer a graded, theory- based programme using a variety of activities (or occupations) to support people to regain motivation. This process is designed to promote participation in the necessary day to day routines, roles and responsibilities which are meaningful and/or necessary as identified by the individual.
As Occupational Therapists, we believe that a person’s sense of self- worth, effectiveness and belonging can be restored through a meaningful and purposeful activity- based programme.
This could include activities of daily living, work or leisure pursuits.
Life-skills include: Managing money, organising and running a home, domestic skills, personal self-care and interpersonal skills (how we interact with others.)
For many people maintaining life-skills and roles can be a daunting prospect as effectiveness in engaging in productive activity can be diminished due to illness or disability. This can lead to inactivity and social withdrawal.
We assess how occupational limitations are related to symptoms and provide treatment packages to sustain a daily routine and improve performance skills in all areas of daily life.
We use a supportive and compassionate approach whilst encouraging change and improving self- efficacy.
